We're ugly, but not THAT ugly.

The State, a newspaper in South Carolina, has just published a list of the best and worst college football uniforms. And guess what! We're number one!

Okay, so Oregon State is number one on the "Bad" list. They even provided the snarky little comment, "Every day is Halloween in Corvallis!" You know what? It's true. Orange and black is not a fantastic combination.

But there's one reason to gloat about making the "Bad" list. It could've been worse. After printing the Good and the Bad, the State also set aside a special category for "The Really Ugly." Number one on that list? The Oregon Ducks. Their Nike uniform redesign has not been particularly popular. Or redesigns, rather, since they can't seem to stop retooling their uniforms.

  • Now I know why I don't watch football. That is an ugly costume (err, uniform). (O.k., that isn't the "only" reason I don't watch. Probably would if I had a kid playing it.)

    True, the uniform could be worse (i.e. Charlie Brown zig-zag, or a crop top). Also, at least they don't have to worry about being confused with some other team sporting the same colors. Quite unique.

  • Go to the osu football site and see the current uni... then if you don't like it, fine. The photo in the blog is not the current uni. I wonder what the S Carolina paper used for its' judgment when a local blogger got it wrong?

  • Yes, I know the picture is not showing the current uniform. You'll note that I never mentioned a particularly specific dislike of the current uniforms. I chose the first picture I found in a rudimentary search simply to show the ugliness of the orange/black combo.
