Overheard on campus

Him: "I can't believe you're dumping me in front of Bexell!"

Her: "Well, you spend more time here than you do with me."

Bexell Hall is the building where the School of Business is based. For some reason, as tragic as this doomed young romance may be, I couldn't help but laugh.

  • For some reason, the location of a dumping matters. It seems harsher to do it right out and about on campus instead of somewhere suitably private and tragically gothic. A deserted, windswept moor? The perfect location for a doomed romance to end (when you are the star of said romance, anyway). On a busy campus sidewalk? Not so much.

When I was in college a boyfriend and I were walking down the sidewalk together when he paused, leaned up against the sign that said "Riley Student Center," and said: "We need to talk."

I was never able to look at the sign the same way again and I always considered it a very non-apropos place for a break-up.

Thanks for letting me tell my tale of woe :)

  • At least it wasn't Batchelor Hall!
